Kasaragod Breed The Kasaragod breed gets its name from the area where it is reared predominantly. Kasaragod is the northernmost district of Kerala bestowed with vast coastal area in the west, plains in the South and hills in North. The local breed Kasaragod are of the dwarf type, with a uniform coat black colour and varied shades of red.
Sahiwal cattle are long, fleshy and heavy with symmetrical body and loose skin, when compared with Red Sindhi which it closely resembles. The mature weight of cows is around 340–400 kg and of bulls up to 700 kg. They are colored reddish dunn or pale red, sometimes flashed with white patches.
